The Right Honourable Anthony Philip (Tony) Moore EC (6 January 1953 – 26 July 2014) was a Democratic Party politician and cabinet minister who served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs from March 2012 until February 2014.

Early life

Born Anthony Philip Moore in Akatore, Beaufortshire on the 6 January 1953, Moore was the oldest child and only son of local school headmaster Alexander Moore and his June (née Higgins). Schooled under is father's tutelage in Akatore, Moore scored high enough in the Selective Schools Admission Exam to allow him to be accepted to the local grammar school in 1965. In secondary school, he excelled in grammar, rhetoric, and civics; and was also a noted sportsman, where he played as a half-back on the school football team, going on to serve as captain of the side in his final year.

Turning down an offer to play for the Kingsbury Football Club, Moore went on the study law at University College Kingsbury, where on top of his studies and sporting prowess, he first became involved in politics. New Ingerland student politics never saw the extreme radicalism seen elsewhere in the west, with socialists considered to be rank outsiders by everyone, including their own left-wing peers in the Democratic Party. Moore was always a moderate, even by Democrat standards, and became a key figure in the junior ranks of the right faction of the party during the 1970s and 1980s.
