Ribbon of the Distinguished Service Star

The Distinguished Service Star or DSS is a military decoration awarded to personnel of the New Ingerland Defence Force for meritorious service in action on land, air and sea. The DSC was introduced in 1972 and is ranked in the middle of the three distinguished service decorations in the Orders, decorations, and medals of New Ingerland. Recipients of the Distinguished Service Star are entitled to use the post-nominal letters "DSS". To date, there have been 448 recipients of the award.

Description

  • The Distinguished Service Star is a plain silver star of eight points. The obverse has a circular centre within which can be seen the Royal Cypher of the reigning monarch at the time of award. The star itself is made of nickel-silver.
  • The reverse is plain apart from the hallmark.
  • The ribbon is navy blue with three maroon stripes surrounding by white.
