The Dean and Chapter of the Chapel Royal is the ecclesiastical body charged with oversight of the Royal Household, and all of the Chapels Royal (except St Michael's Chapel, Warmford Regis, which has it's own chapter of canons). The chapter consists of the Dean and several canons, and is based at the Chapel Royal, Kingsbury Palace.

History

The college of Canons was established in 1836 by Letters Patent issued by Alexander I. The college marks it's formal beginning as 13 October 1836, the Feast of St. Edward the Confessor, which marks the day the statutes of the chapter were solemnly delivered to Avery Hamilton, the first Dean of the Chapel Royal.
